Let's take it back, shall we? Way back to 2002 when the world was merely on the brink of shipping Beyoncé and Jay Z. Little did everyone know that the duo would become arguably the music industry's biggest couple to date in just a few years after dropping several tracks together and even embarking on a world tour.

And while the two seem to be much more comfortable discussing their marriage through song, Bey and Jay were asked by Carson Daly in this Total Request Live footage about their friendship and how their collaboration on "Bonnie & Clyde" first came to be.

"We met a long time ago; awards shows, a lot of different performances," a shy Yoncé told the audience while her future hubby stood beside her.

And upon being questioned further about the, well, rumors that their friendship may have taken a turn down romance lane, Jay was quick to answer with a calculated, vague response.

"You know, people, you see each other, and you respect each other's music, there's always that conversation, ‘We oughta do something!' [It's] that time filler. When that time filler turns into something real, it's music."

Sure, Jay, whatever you say, but flash forward to six years from this video and the "Drunk in Love" pair were tying the knot in their penthouse apartment in New York City in front of their closest friends and family.

And the rest, as they say, is history!
