Taylor Swift is basically the reason the term "girl squad" exists today.

After a couple of failed relationships—and subsequent albums about said relationships—T. Swift disappeared from the spotlight only to reemerge with new partners: a group of girl friends. Swift gushed about her group of gal-pals, which includes Lena Dunham, Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Lorde, Karlie Kloss and many more, in Vanity Fair, telling the magazine that life wouldn't be the same without her core.

"It's almost like the sisterhood has such a higher place on the list of priorities for us. It's so much more important than some guy that it didn't work out with," she said. "When you've got this group of girls who need each other as much as we need each other, in this climate, when it's so hard for women to be understood and portrayed the right way in the media...now more than ever we need to be good and kind to each other and not judge each other."

Relying on a group of girlfriends has been the theme of 2015, so here are eight times A-listers made it a priority to put chicks before dicks:

1) "Bad Blood" - Swift's music video for her hit single was the epitome of #SquadGoals. While the hashtag should probably be abolished, there was no other term more appropriate to describe this group project, which featured T.Swift and all of her besties kicking ass and taking names.

2) 1989 Tour - Yes, this list is Swift-heavy, but she has become the face of the squad movement. Throughout her tour she continuously surprised fans and audience members with cameos from her group of friends. At one point she even managed to score Julia Roberts.

3) Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence - These two revealed themselves to be secret besties, only coming clean after admitting that they're penning a screenplay together. Making them even cooler is the fact that in addition to their untitled project they also vacation together—and get caught in hilarious photos.

4) Amy Poehler and Tina Fey - Debatably the most famous dynamic duo, these two are making us envious of their friendship once again with their new movie, Sisters. Best friends in real life and sisters onscreen? Let's trade lives.

5) North West and Penelope Disick - Whether they're dressing up for Halloween or getting ready for ballet class, these two have been inseparable since they could both walk and talk! What's cuter than a lifelong friendship?

6) Kendall Jenner and Hailey Baldwin - Kendall and Hailey proved their hoes over bros mentality when then Keeping Up With the Kardashians star sent her BFF birthday cupcakes that contained a naughty message: "F--k him." Who needs boys when you can take your anger out on Sprinkles cupcakes?

7) Model Mayhem - Kendall Jenner and her supermodel girlfriends, Gigi and Cara Delevingne, are taking the fashion world by storm, but watching seeing Kendall and Gigi experience the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show together for the first time was adorable.

8) The Kardashian-Jenner Women - OK, so they're related, which probably means this shouldn't count, but these women are always supporting each other. From Kendall's modeling to Kylie's Lip Kit; from Kourtney Kardashian's breakup to Khloe Kardashian's and Lamar Odom's health crises, each one of these stars was always there for the other through thick in thin.

#SquadGoals-turned-#SisterSquad.
