Why just wear pearl jewelry when you can sport a gown made entirely of pearls?

That seems to be what Lupita Nyong'o asked herself tonight for the 2015 Oscars: Just when we thought the actress couldn't be any more flawless, she steps out in an all-over pearl confection that was custom-designed for her by Calvin Klein Collection's Francisco Costa. The figure-hugging frock features intricate white beading from top to bottom, a halter neckline and sexy keyhole cut-out (just the kind of avant-garde meets implicitly simple look we expect from Lupita).

Really—who hasn't dreamed of dripping in this many pearls? (We sure have.) The dress features more than 6,000 to be precise. (The better question might be: How heavy is it?!) Lupita accessorized her look with pearl-encrusted Nicholas Kirkwood heels (natch) and a mirrored box clutch from Calvin Klein Collection.

This isn't Lupita's first collaboration with Costa—he designed a custom gown for her appearance at the 2014 Critics' Choice Awards.

"[We created] a series of textures with intricate placements of a variety of different-sized pearls," Costa told Vogue. "We looked at a variety of different pearls—South Sea, iridescent, and natural—and decided that the natural pearls looked the most beautiful."

As for her second year 'round attending the Oscars, Lupita joked with Ryan Seacrest that "the pressure's off!"

"I can just dress up and enjoy the show," she told the E! Live From the Red Carpet host, who also asked Nyong'o about a stunningly similar mother-daughter shot she posted to Instagram on Feb. 9.

"I saw that picture from the Lucky magazine shoot and I remembered a picture of her that was in our living room," Lupita said of the old photo, which is an up-close snapshot of her mom in 1983. "And it's uncanny, isn't it?"

Uncanny's one way to put it: The two are virtual twinsies. In the grace and beauty department, Lupita definitely got it from her mama.
