But to replicate the red carpet hair and makeup effects exactly you've got to go straight to the source—meaning stars' glam squads. Luckily for you, we've got most of those talented folks on speed dial.
Our first calls were to get the scoop on two of our favorite hairstyles from last night: Kate Hudson and Jared Leto.
Hairstylist Chris McMillan shared that he was inspired by the Something Borrowed actress' Versace gown. "When I saw the dress, it was amazing, very 1940s," he tells E! News exclusively. "We wanted to keep it sexy and fun. I had an idea of an updo but with the rain that idea quickly got shot down. She wanted to wear it down."
Another star who wanted to let loose? The Best Supporting Actor winner. Leto's longtime hairstylist Chase Kusero (who uses Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Hair Care products) tells E!, his client's look is never planned ahead of time. "Jared and I decide day of," adding that: "[There are] no superstitions but his hair long is it right now so no plans to cut it anytime soon."
Moving on to makeup, our favorite cat eye of the night was without a doubt sported by Olivia Wilde. Her makeup artist Melanie Iglesias dished that the star's signature look was created by applying Revlon Colorstay Liquid Liner in Blackest Black. "We we're going for a 1960s chic look. We wanted it to be simple but make a statement," she shares. "We knew we were going to do a cat eye from the beginning. Sharp harsh line, very graphic." And very beautiful.
